Here are the 2015 Annual Meeting Agenda-Minutes. You can find the presentation slides and PDFs on our Members Only page. We had some terrific special guest speakers this year and a full agenda with our final closeout for the five year project. Ontime and under budget  FTW!

HS InFocus is grateful for the opportunity to work with such a wonderful group of librarians. The future of Library Connectivity is going to be just as busy and exciting as the past 10 years have been. We have made a real impact – we work smarter when we work together

We are excited about our annual meeting at the University of Michigan next week! We are meeting again with our TKN colleagues and are proud to be able to make these face-to-face meetings happen for these vital partners.

If you can’t join us in Ann Arbor, you’re welcome to participate in the open sessions online!

SLA 2014 in Vancouver, B.C. is closer than you think. Please contact us for travel approval letters and registration. Earlybird is best! The MoDOT policy for foreign travel is to use the current State Department per diem rates. See the link below for Canada, and note that Vancouver has two seasons.

U.S. Department of State January 2014 Per Diem Rates for Canada

Last month, the Center for Transportation Studies and the MnDOT Library hosted the joint annual meetings of the Transportation Library Connectivity & Development Pooled Fund Study TPF-5(237), the Midwest Transportation Knowledge Network (MTKN), and the Western Transportation Knowledge Network (WTKN). Librarians from fourteen state DOTs, several universities, the Portland Cement Association, and the National Transportation Library met on the University of Minnesota campus and at MnDOT’s Central Office building, with some members attending portions of the meetings remotely. Read more and see pics here.

We are in the Twin Cities for our 2-day meeting. Day 1 highlights:

Pooled Fund business meeting. This may or may not be a highlight, depending on your individual love of spreadsheets.

Guests:
David Hedeen, MnDOT National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) Compliance Engineer. David shared a fantastic talk about the process of inspections, a timely topic (always). Bridge Inspection – David Hedeen, Sept. 18, 2013

Nancy Sims, University of Minnesota Copyright Librarian. Copyright Workshop. Nancy gave us a refresher on copyright as it applies to contracts, licenses and fair use. The second half had us break out into smaller groups to develop internal policies, documents and education programs for compliance; digital collections considerations, laws and contracts/licenses (think Creative Commons).

Later, we’re going to walk over to Minitex and Kathy Drozd will take us on a tour of MLAC.

Welcome to SLA 2013 in San Diego. I’m going to try to blog as much of the transportation buzz as I can. First, I’m really happy that there are 18 of us here from the pooled fund. GTRIC is in session right now and our members represent 56% of the total attendance this year. Professional development is still such an important feature of our set of member services, and we’re really glad to be able to make it happen. We have some new faces: Michelle Hancock from Caltrans and Mitch Ison from NVDOT are here. Our newest member, Alaska University Transportation Research Center is also represented by Judie Triplehorn. We’re having a mini pooled fund meeting at 4pm. It’s really informal and we will fill in those of you who aren’t here on our next quarterly call on June 20.

Welcome! We have a full day planned. Please check your agendas for the day’s activities. Your remote access is below.
